A bit too cold for comfortable breathing today at 9 °C, but low pollen counts on the other hand.

Today I made the first attempt at running for the year, because the weather was good and I got the impulse to burn money on a new pair of running shoes to replace the pair I accidentally left behind in the Arvika Festival camping mud last summer.

The short running lap felt quite good for the first run in almost 2 years. Didn't even feel like a squeaky-toy afterwards, but there probably isn't much pollen in the air yet.

It's 15 °C outside at midnight, in mid April! Almost too good to be true.

Too bad it also rushes the pollen pest into overdrive... with birches now having a bukkake fest all over the place.

While out on today's lunch break walk I first noticed some individuals of the local vegetabilia having a bit too many green buds for the season, and then I saw one that had actually sprung fresh green leaves.

Poor little stupid thing is in for a big surprise when the winter actually comes...

And there are rumours of risk for bitch pollen in the air. WTF?!

To get a break from teh pollen infested gardening I was doing I went back to the rebuilding of the work corner of my bedroom, trying to expand shelf space into the useless space in the corner above my work bench. Since I already had an IKEA Ivar® next to the bench, I thought that maybe I can take a shorter module and connect on top of the bench. In worst case I'd need to put some padding to get the height correct. But today was apparently my lucky day, and it got perfectly straight on the first attempt!

Now I've run the full 6.3 km lap around both locks in the canal; at 11 °C and 94 %RH it was very easy on the breathing so I clocked in at 6m50s per km on the average. Starts feeling really good about the possibility of keeping up with the regular running this summer.

I think the birches have more or less finished their yearly bukkake session, and it's been raining a lot to help clean the air of filth.

When I was running the last ¼ of the lap someone fired off a load of fireworks further down, and a little later I ran through a 30 m large cloud of powdersmoke that slowly drifted along the canal. Quite surreal.

I'm confused about the actual distances of the canal half-laps, but the short one again in 24 minutes. Set out for a longer ~5 km lap but I decided that ~3 km would be good enough when I started getting hints of breathing getting painful. Too dry air perhaps, because of the sudden warmth.

The running season didn't start as good as I'd planned because I cought a bad cold that had me in bed for a week and then it was too chilly outside when I had recovered. But today was a good combination of weather and health so I tried the longer half of the Kinda canal lap. ~4 kms in 31 minutes this time, making a time/km under 8 minutes.

I doped myself with extra antihistamine dosage before running and didn't notice much breathing problems I had expected due to the recently added bitrch pollen.

GM:ed San Andreas in the morning. Got hit badly by the GothCon plague, in the shape of allery shock. That had me more or less zombied for the rest of the day. I really don't like pollen.
